Brother did some decorating

Analisemcg

So, I got home after being at my dads for 4 days. Mom told me my little brother did some “decorating” in my tank… again. This time he dropped a stick of selenite AND some pliers (both of which are ruined). They have been in the tank since yesterday, it’s a 5.5 gallon. Stocking is a betta and a Nerite snail… what is the likelihood of them dying? The pliers did get super rusty.

Well that was nice of her to remove that stuff.

I would do a large water change and try to vac really good where the items were. It will be hit or miss I guess if the rust affects them or not. Should be ok. Do another water change in a few days. Maybe a few this week just to be sure.

If you do a big water change you should be fine. There is really nothing else you can do at this point.

Just did a 50% change, and yeah I have no idea why she didn’t remove them. The betta still seems pretty active so that is a good sign, thank you!

edit: I’m going to buy a glass lid if I can find one… I’ll have a stroke if this happens again.
