Do you have a closer up picture? I can't really tell how bad the damage is from here.

Generally speaking, add plenty of calcium and if it's really bad you might need to make a patch for him or keep him in a breeder box or hospital tank for a while so his exposed flesh doesn't get infected or become a snack for another fish or snail.

This is as good as I can get

Two others also seem to be damaged

Are they nerites? The damage looks more like a calcium deficiency than an actual injury. It looks old, too. If they're alive then I would just make sure that your tank water isn't too low in minerals and you can add cuttlebone or oyster shells to help ensure that.

Yeah they're nerites. I was thinking of that as well. Hmm weird I got them from aquatic arts along with my mysterys who are in great condition( a little damage here and there). Ive got a good size piece of cuttlebone in the tank. Got crushed coral in the filter.

If that is calcium damage and not shipping damage, I would let the seller know that their snails aren't healthy and aren't getting enough calcium (but make sure to say it in a nice way!).

The little white spots look like nerite eggs, actually.

Sounds like you've got a good pH and plenty of calcium, so they're in good hands now. Poor little guys.

Yeah. How weird that they were this damged. The company seems to take care of their snails. I'll send them an email and see what happens.

Alright I'm sending the email in the afternoon. Just to make sure, I don't have to patch any of the snails right?

I just want some reassurance that these two guys (the worst guys) don't need patching ( is the gray slimy skin new shell growing? Please and thanks for the responses

Is it soft? Like the body is exposed? If so then something might need to be done to protect it.

No I checked this afternoon pretty sure it was hard. I'm going to check again in the morning

If it's hard then their bodies should have enough protection to survive.

Do you think that a patch job would be beneficial?
Also will any of the snails shells heal enough to be like the rest of the unharmed shell, or are they stuck like that?

I just sent the email to the company. Tell me how I did:

First let me start of by praising your shipping method. It was fast and the bedding material that you used, while messy to us humans, are perfect for transporting fragile snails. Also the snails that I received are great and beuatiful additions to my tank.

However, many of my nerite snails have shell damge from an inadequate supply of calcium. They have deterioration and small holes in their shells, though they seem to be growing back. Don't think that I'm trying to be rude, but please if there's a problem in your tanks ( whether it be low ph, kh, or gh) please fix it for the snail's sake. Also the pack that I ordered from Amazon, Nerite Snail COMBO PACK (Neritina natalensis) - 5 Tiger Nerite Snails, 5 Sun Thorn Nerite Snails, 5 Zebra Nerite Snails + Aquatic Arts Brand Food Sample, was suppose to deliver 5 sun thorn snails, but instead I received 5 olive snails that were damaged.

Still I love your snails and company, and I will be ordering all of my aquatic animals from you.
Thanks

I think that was very polite while still getting your point across.

As long as it isn't on their bare, squishy skin, they should calcify back surprisingly well since you know how to care for them properly. Patching a snail can be potentially stressful - or even deadly - to a snail if you accidentally get any glue or silicon on their bodies or put them back in the tank before they're completely dry. I'd never personally do a patch unless I saw skin, and even then I'd be nervous. The shell will never grow back to 'perfect' condition visually, but I doubt you'll see health issues I liked how you phrased your email to them too, hopefully they'll get their calcium levels straightened out.

I just got the email from them. Apparently I accidently got sent some of their B grade snails that they raise and sell for a discounted price. They're offering me replacement snails. I don't know if I should take it. I think I might have gotten some B grade mystery snails as well, but they only have some minor scratches. I'll send pictures to them of the snails that are the most damaged. What do you guys think I should do.
Here's the email:

HI Robert,

Thanks for getting in touch. I am so sorry to hear that for some reason we sent you some of our B-Grade nerite snails. We do sell snails at a discounted price that have shell erosion or lots of scratches on them, they are still perfectly healthy but with minor shell damage. Our water here at Aquatic Arts is actually very good for shell growth, that is why you noticed some new growth/repair on the damaged parts of the shells . Any snails with this kind of damage come in from our supplier like this. They need good homes too, which is why we made separate discounted listings for them. I am so sorry that for some reason you were sent some B-Grade snails by mistake!

Would you be able to send me a picture of some of the snails that had damage as well as the snails that are the olive snails? I just want to do some quality control and I would love to see the snails you received.

I would of course be happy to send replacements for any damaged or incorrect snails that you received. Just let me know if you can send me a picture of some of the snails and if you could send me a total number that need replaced as well I can get this going for you.

Thanks,
Preston

I would take him up on it! Seems like very good customer service. Even if you don't take the snails at the very least I would send him the pictures as requested so he can see what you were sent.

I'm going to ask them to just send me five sun thorn snails since those are the ones that I don't have.
