Depending on the crack I found this works.
My magenta snail got out of the tank even though she has plenty of room to lay her eggs above the water line. Only my to magenta mystery snails do this for some reason.
I had to do snail surgery. But it’s worked well.
I removed the little shards of her shell carefully and delicately, used a nail file to take the sharp edges off but you only file in the one direction so it doesn’t tear the shell, (like the human finger nail) I had to get gel super glue ( not the normal kind, gel stays on top of the shell versus just getting sucked up in the shell), eggshell piece thoroughly rinsed and membrane still attached, and toothpicks to help apply pressure to hold shell in place while glue dries.
I put tiny dots on the outer part of the shell around the wound far enough to not accidentally glue the snail into her shell once adhered. (Otherwise your snail will die if it can’t get out)
You shape and mold the eggshell to your snails shape of injury. My poor girl needed a helmet lol.
Once you are good with the shape and length of it you add glue on top and spread it across to seal it. And then I filed the egg shell to make sure it was smooth to not injure her while she does her activities.
Once I put her in the tank it took quite a few hours for her to see her new shell and get used to it. She’s living her best life and still laying clutches. She’s my OG snail. Her name is now helmet head lol. Here are some pics of her if you want a heartfelt yet ridiculous laugh. Told you I’m a snail mama!! Lol
You can also use a smaller piece of shell to cover smaller cracks multiple pieces for your unique situation.
