Hi guys,

Noticed a small white spot appear on my bristle nose pleco about a week ago been doing 20% water changes daily but seeing him today he has got alot worse.

I fear it's getting deeper and he is flashing g alot.

My tank is stable 0 ammonia 0 nitrite pH 6.5 and nitrates 20ppm.

My other bristle nose is perfectly fine with no issues what so ever.

Could someone please tell me if there is anything more I can do.

I would seperating him but I haven't got a spare tank as my other twnk is currently housing small fry and no other fish seem to bother him.

TIA

Sean

Ouch, that doesn't look good!
Is there anything really sharp or rough in the tank?

If he's flashing, that's a possibility for him to rub his nose.
Has he gone underneath anything? I have seen plecos that go behind canister filter intake pipes, or HOB filters, possibly rubbing it on something rough.

Sounds and.looks like a bacterial infection.

They only thing I can think of is he likes to either climb inside my air ornament (oyster) but I checked that for rough edges can't find any or he likes to bury under the drift wood. Again pulled this out couldn't find anything sharp at all.

I think it is an infection but may be internal as the other community are not showing any signs of this. Feel sorry for the guy as he has started to lose his bristles
