Bricks/Pavers in an aquarium?

I was sketching out my theme for my tank and was thinking of going for like building ruins or something along the lines like that. I have loads of different pavers at my disposal.(neighbors.. bunch of them did walk ways and stuff). And Lowes is right down the street.

If I use them I would glue what ever it Is I am making together before putting it in the tank and line the bottom of the structure with a thin piece of foam so not to scratch the glass.

I think it will go great with sand and a bunch of ghost shrimp..

you'll want to make sure everything is aquarium safe and test the materials for leeching, etc.

if you can find someone that builds marble counter-tops and fireplaces they generally have scraps that have a great potential for what you're talking about I have also been looking into the synthetic stones that they're using now for the same applications either way the marble is easy to work with and silicone holds it together quite well (as if it wouldn't) and marble was the choice stone for palaces that have now fell into ruin just a suggestion since I am dabbling in the idea myself I still haven't found a source for shale in my area but i'm still looking Lee

I think I will go to the stone work company in town and ask nicely if they have anything I could possibly have...

I would be careful of pavers and any product made with cement. They tend to use lots of chemicals to achieve their desired results of hardness, and such. Some have ground glass, dyes and of course lime. The marble on the other hand sounds a bit safer. :;z

I use actual brick in my first african tank...it looked horrible tho. I prefer real rocks & plants.
