Breeding pair

I have to jack Dempsey's in a 55 gallon I separated them because I think they are matching pair and or breeding what's the best way to tell if they are breeding?

 

Do you not want them to pair up?

 

No I do, I've seen fry in my aquariums I'm assuming it's from them is there any signs that will tell me if there breading

 

What else is in the tank?

You'll see them together, and they'll be defending their breeding spot and the fry.

 

Just them, now. Before they were in a mixed cichlid tank. Now their alone in a 55
