Breeding Guppies, Experiences?

Hey guys, I'm not actually considering breeding them myself at the moment, but I've done some research on breeding guppies and have even read you can use selective breeding to make your own strain, which I find fascinating.

Anyways, I created this thread because I would like to learn of your experiences with breeding guppies and possibly start discussion. How did you get started? How was your experience and did it go how you expect? What mistakes did you make and advice do you have? What was the best part? I'm curious to see your answers.

It was good I gave them 12 hours of lighting, good parameters , ph range perfect (7.2) and 11 fry came out after my dinner.

When I mean good parameters I mean no nitrates no ammonia

I line bred them for a few years. Had 12 20 gallon tanks going and a 29 for the culls. It was fun. You pick the ones with the best traits your looking for and breed them together and repeat.

Awesome! What did you do with the culls after putting them in the 29 gal and how did you prevent them from breeding themselves?

That tank kept breeding. I would trade 20-30 of them for 1 or 2 males or feed them to my Oscar.
