Breeding Ghost Shrimp

Hey guys, I'm new to this forum and in the aquarium niche in general. I have my 5 gallon cube aquarium for 1 year. First I only betta fish in it. But yesterday I bought four ghost shrimp and I think it would be amazing if I could breed them. I did my research on internet and found a lot of good articles about ghost shrimp care.
All in all, what are your tips for beginner, who wants to breed ghost shrimp? It would be great to learn from other people mistake... Thank you for your answers. !

 

I put a large group of shrimp (some were already berried) into one of my tanks, and they eventually had baby shrimps.

It's not hard to breed shrimp, you basically put some males and females together and let nature take it's course.
This applies for most, but some species have different standards, especially if you are breeding colored ones for a profit.

Like fanatic said, ghost shrimp reproduce really easily. I will add, that if you have them with the betta, make sure they have LOTS of hides. If/when he realizes the shrimp taste good, they're gonners if he can find them.

 

Thank you for your answers guys. I have another question too. My friend gave me bamboo shrimps, but I'm afraid that ghost shrimps won't go along with bamboo shrimps.. In bamboo shrimp guides I couldn't find enough info about that.. :/

 

I have both bamboo and ghost shrimp in a tank together. They go just fine. Bamboo shrimp are filter feeders, they have those little fan hands and they only eat tiny little specks of food floating in the current. They're not quite as easy to feed as the ghosties, but I just fine grind some food and drop it in front of the filter output for them.

Be careful keeping the bamboo with the betta, since they're so big I wouldn't be surprised if he sees it as a threat or snack and kills it.
