I have breed angelfish.it's very easy.you put the pair of angelfish in breeding aquarium and you put something where they can lay their egs.when the egs hatch the pair will do their job.only you need to feed them.that's all.

Hello. If the angels are ready to breed you'll know what is female or what is male. The male have little **** but longer than female's ****.they have both ****.Female's **** is fater than male's.When the female is ready to breed you will see the stomach is bigger and fater. Both must have the **** when they are ready. That's all.

did you see the text I wrote to you. ;D

I know that I am getting ahead of myself here...but...since I just picked up a breeding pair of Marble veiled angels, is it so hard to breed in a tank with substrate and allow them to raise their fry without my intervention? I'm not a breeder but I'd love the watch the process...

I think in general people like to use bare bottom tanks because it's easier to see where the dirt is to syphon it away so easier to keep clean. The food also settles on the glass bottom and is highly visible for the fish to see and to continue feeding for longer periods.

However, I breed my Angels in a full decor tank with a fine gravel bottom (1mm-2mm) I clean the bottom with a gravel syphon and feed with live brine shrimp that stay in the water column.

Angels breed all the time in regular tanks. Some breeders prefer bare bottom for cleanup, also because the entire purpose of the tank is for breeding/rearing and not a display. Either will work fine, and I really believe a well aquascaped tank would have them more comfortable anyhow.

Although I was intriqued to find that they are a mated pair I wouldnt want to keep them in a barebottom tank because it is a display tank... I will keep up with my water paremeters and if it happens it happens. Would be a nifty thing to watch happen naturally IMO.

Yikes, the wrong angels spawned! I have a pair of breeding angels in my community tank that spawned today! Now there is war in the tank. Will clown loaches eat the eggs or fry? Will my other angels?

Clown Loaches love snacking on little Angelfish fry and so do other Angelfishes unfortunately.

Yup. Indeed they did. I am going to set up the 20G for future spawnings....

I have a pair of angels and they have laid eggs 3 times now. I was just wondering how many times will they lay eggs? So far I haven't had any survive but they just laid yesterday so maybe some of these ones will make it

They can lay eggs quite regularly. Once they pair up, they are baby making machines. Are you looking to save any offspring?

Welcome to Fishlore!

They will keep laying eggs. Are they in a tank by themselves? If so, they may learn to care for them on their own after a few more spawns. If they are in a tank with other fish, the other fish will most likely eat the eggs/fry.

There is other fish in the tank. When the last batch started to hatch I moved them to a hang on breeder but the day after they became free swimming they got into the main tank.

This is my first tank and the angels came with it. The woman I got it from said she never could get them to spawn but I have only had it for almost 2 months and they have 3 times. They are in a 55 gallon, I also have a 10 gallon that has swordtail fry in it. I never intended to breed fish but it is really interesting.

The 55 gallon came with 4 angels. The other two were both males and they were a little bigger than the two I still have. I gave the other two to a guy I work with cause I really didn't want big fish in the tank. About a week after I took the others out of the tank they started spawning.

I have a pair of Angelfish who's first three spawns didn't work...than they had 3 successful spawns. Where they even rasided the fry's till 3 weeks...Now the last 2 spawns seem to not have been fertilized even though the male seems to be doing the exact same thing he did with the successful spawns.

Welcome to fishlore... I'm not sure exactly what your asking?

  • #36
Why are the eggs not being fertilized now

AnthonyC4C
  • #37
Well looking at your post and seeing out of 8 times it only happened 3 times its possible the male might be shooting blanks sorta speak ...

dawng
  • #38
Why would he be shooting blanks? Will he fertilize them again

AnthonyC4C
  • #39
Do you mean the same batch of eggs or trying new altogether? Looks like as of now you have a 37.5% chance of fertilization.

  • #40
The next batch? Will he fertilize them or is something wrong?
