Hi. Sorry for the delay. How do you have a 5 gallon cycled tank? Is anyone In it? Do a big water change first. Were you going to have pea puffers in the 75? They need to be in groups.

 

Yes I cycled the tank fishless and was maintaining it with ammonia, did a water change and put the puffer in... I have prime and stability...

 

Day 10:

Ammonia - 0-0.25 ppm
Nitrite - 5 + ppm
Nitrate - 10-20 ppm

 

You got your nitrite spike. I'd see where it's at in another 24hrs. Don't redose ammonia yet with the nitrites that high.

Yea I plan to do 2 pea puffers in the 5, but now I'm worried about transfering this puffer to the 75 and having both tanks contaminated. My ammonia is 0 and nitrates are going down so I think the cycle is ending. I'm gonna dose it with 2 ppm ammonia and if its gone by tommorow I'm transferring him after the water change.

This one isn't a pea puffer he is a gsp and he has ich. I can't turn the heat up on the 5 because its a preset heater so I think the best chance would be put him in the 75 (that's for him anyway) and raise heat

 

Oh ok I mis-understood. Hope he gets better.

Nitrite - 5+
Nitrate - 20-40

 

How long has your ammonia been at 0?

You may need to do a water change depending on when you last dosed it with your nitrites that high.

 

Its been at 0 for 2 days. I'm going to change water today so I can bring the nitrite down and actually get a reading then probably redose ammonia.

Day 12:
ammonia - 0
Nitrite - .25
Nitrate - 40 +

Did a 50% water change and I'm gonna dose 2 ppm ammonia and see if everything is 0 by tommorow!

I would redose your water to 1 ppm ammonia, and make sure it cycles out the ammonia in 12 hours. If it does, your cycled. Do a 50% + water change to get your nitrate down to 10ppm or less.

Yeah, I would re-dose. You want it to register 0 for ammonia and nitrites 24 hours later.

 

Ok so I resosed at about 10 pm last night, I will check again tonight to see if its 0. Thanks all!

 

Day 15: CYCLED BABY!!!!! ( I think lol)

Gonna keep dosing 2 ppm ammonia everyday until I get the fish.

 

That nitrite reading doesn't look light enough have u a better pic against the chart avaliable? Also a water change to bring the nitrate down before getting fish is needed, but the ammonia level looks good

Ur right it was still a liitle hint of purple, so I just redosed again.
