This is the tank I bought:

(I got it for like $20! such a good deal!!!)

If you don't want to go to the link it's called "Aquarius AQ15002 Semi-hexagon 5-Gallon Aquarium with Hood and CFL lighting and MinI Might Internal Filter"
That sure is a mouthful. Anyways, it says it comes with a "MinI Might Internal Filter" Does anyone know if that will be a good filter or would I be better off trying to find another one?

I don't know anything about that filter, but I was curious what you were planning on putting in it? A 5g. severly limits what you can stock.

oh I was just thinking a betta or some endlers. I used to have a ten gallon and all I wanted to do was put a divider in and get two bettas but it's in storage now(I doubt my parents will let me set it up) so I figured if I get a 5 that's small enough that they won't mind and big enough to have a betta. (I mean, I pay for all the tanks and fish and decorations yet they still control my fish keeping )

And on the matter of your parents, I felt the same when I was younger (still managed to get 4 tanks-all in my room). Now that I am a parent I can see where I might limit the hobby for my daughter if I didn't already have a class example of MTS. It is a lot of work and being an animal lover I would want her to start small and as she proves her abilities as a care taker let her upgrade her tanks. It is really good that you do all the care and maintenance and that you find a way to pay for it, and hopefully your parents will let you upgrade soon. You also have to understand that multiple tanks will affect the powerbill. Although, you'd have to have several tanks to see a really noticeable jump, at least in my experience.

haha I don't even know how I come up with the money, but having debit card sure doesn't help! anyways, if the filter that comes with the tank is poodu, then what would be a good replacement?

no. haha. I got a cave that's like a log with some rocks. I thought that would look nicer in a planted tank.
