Bottom Rack Fish Recommendation

I have shrimp racks with a low tanks. Fish in low tanks scare a lot easier I have noticed as well as have seen this corroborated in a video where Cory was talking about tank positioning in is old fish room. My tanks are all heavily planted so in tanks that are low the fish hide all the time.

Already have species tanks for:
Boraras brigittae
CPD/emerald dwarf rasbora
Guppies/endlers
Trigonostigma
Norman lampeye

So I’m looking for other fish that are very outgoing for 10 gallon species nano tanks to go on the bottom rack and must get along as well with cherry shrimp as the aforementioned species.

I am planning to get Ember tetras, but I don't know how outgoing they are and if they'll do well in a low tank.

And if you were looking for recommendations yourself, I personally recommend ChilI rasboras or Guppies. The other's that I've kept really needed to be desktop or higher so that the fish don't get scared as much. CPDs in my tank at eye level constantly come out and beg for food, CPDs down low are never seen unless you sit still for a minute or two and wait along with adding food. Also, Oryzias Latipes var Youkihi, in an outdoor tank on the floor after half a year are about as friendly as guppies for me.

I’d say sparkling gourami. You can keep several of them in a 10 gallon and they have unique personality and it’s fun to watch them interact with each other. They also LOVE planted tanks and won’t eat full grown cherry shrimp

WTFish?

I see you already have cpds which is what I was going to recommend, so I’ll just comment on the embers. Mine are very shy except at feeding time. They are at head level though, not sure if that makes a difference. I just don’t find them as outgoing.

I have 5 embers in a 5.5 with a betta and they are still pretty outgoing the betta is chill. I don’t see why they wouldn’t be a good candidate for a lower level tank.. you could probably put 20-25 in a 10 gallon but wait for others to chime in to verify that

Thanks, I'll still get em, they'll just go in a higher tank.

you have a lot of cool fish! i'm not sure about how outgoing/skittish other nano fish are so I can't give any input

I've had Ember Tetras for a day and can already tell they coulda gone on the bottom of the rack. I get up from my desk and walk right by them and they're completely unphased. As if I weren't even there. Or maybe they're there because I'm sitting at my desk... who knows, but man they are SO friendly. If they're not friendly for you, well I have 15 of them right now so numbers may be a factor.

I’d agree with them having personality & not shy but I have to disagree with them not killing adult shrimp.
My group of sparklers severely reduced my shrimp population in that tank, I removed as many as I could but the sparklers got the rest.
From that experience I would not recommend shrimp with sparkling gourami

Interesting. I never thought their mouths would be big enough to do that much damage, and mine have never been aggressive towards my shrimp, but they are anabantoids so they probably would have a taste for shrimp
