20 Gallon Tank Bolivian Ram And What Possible Tank Mates

Hello,

I am planning on getting 2 bolivian rams this weekend and placing them in my 20 gallon tank. I currently have 3 albino corys in the tank and I was looking at possibly getting something else with the rams.

Something small like some ember tetras. My only concern is that I would be over stocking the tank or that tetras in general would make bad tank mates. So if I shouldn't add anymore fish besides the rams I am fine with that. If I could however add something else what would be your suggestions?

Do you have a 20 long or tall. If it's tall the rams would have very little space to avoid each other.

I have bolivians with neons so they can be kept with tetra. They are pretty peaceful with other fish and I have heard of people keeping them with embers. I would up the cory school to 6 and get 6 of the embers. Also I wouldn't get the rams, tetra and cory at the same time. Stagger it so you don't have a spike

If you are getting two rams, learn to sex them very well and try to get a male and female. As well as that you should make sure the decor in the tank is positioned so that they can be blocked from each others line of sight if they want peace and quiet. They can fight amongst themselves and stress can be a killer. The first question I asked will decide if 2 is a good idea or not.

It is a 20 tall. I am fine with getting just 1 ram if that is the better option. I will of course stagger the purchases and I can definitely get more corys to make them a little happier, maybe some panda corys.

I would definitely say a few more Cory’s would be good. If you do get more it would be better to get more of the same kind rather then a different kind. I also keep my ram with neons and Cory’s and they don’t bother eachother at all.

I added one Bolivian ram with 3 white skirts in a 20 gal high. They seem to be getting along it's been about a week. I'm doing Cory's next as well. I heard it's when they are breeding is when the aggression occurs. But I'm still learning as well

I have four in a community tank. I've always heard that they are aggressive when they breed, but even when mine breed they are incredibly peaceful. They just charge forward to scare fish away and that's about it. They never hurt anything. They're a really great fish!

I have 7 Cory's and a tiger barb with mine and it is working out fine. The tiger barb had friends but they died sadly.
