Blue Phantom not growing?

I have a juvie blue phantom pleco that I've had for a few months now and he hasnt grown at all. Anyone who has kept or is keeping one; how long did it take to see considerable growth? Is it possible he isnt getting enough food or is being bullied by my BN? I had a juvie BN who didnt grow at all then it died. I dont want the same thing to happen to my phantom. He is very active, and he does join in during feeding frenzy time. Fins are all intact. I can't get a better picture because hes very skittish and hides whenever I approach the tank.

 

I have a green and a blue that Ive had about 1-1/2 years and they grow very slow.

They can grow to 3-1/2" up to like 6-1/2"

 

I just wanted to say, that is such a beautiful pleco! Lucky you!

 

My BN pleco is also growing extremely slowly to the point where it’s hardly noticeable, I think they’re just slow growers.

 

You can always send it this way...see if us cornfed americans can grow him! Beautiful fish though...think i know what i need to look for now!

 

Plecos just tend to be slow growers. Give him time, and he’ll become bigger and even more beautiful than he is now!

 

Thanks guys, because my BN grew massive super quickly I thought that was the norm. I shall stop panicking lol

 

I could be mistaken but it seems the males tend to grow both faster and larger than the females. At least that has been my observation. I have several male bn that are at least twice the size of the same age females - at least one is well over 2 1/2 times larger - all fishes the same age.
