Blue Oranda - Broken Pectoral Fin

Hey all, new to the hobby and forum here. I have a blue oranda and during change of tank, he jump of the net and fell to the carpet floor. He is okay, healthy, swimming, eating and playing but one of his pectoral fin seems to be broken.

It's still connected to the body etc, not torn but it just flops to its side and not spread open.

He can still move it for swimming and navigating etc per normal, just that it clumps together and not spread like a wing.

Photo attach.

Would this heal?

It's been two weeks.

HI there, sorry to hear about your fish. I'm having trouble seeing the damage in the pictures, so I'm going to ask some questions instead.
Has the fin been broken for two weeks?
Is it getting worse?
Does it bend both ways, if so, how far each way?
I had one snap a pectoral real bad, still don't know how, but it would flop 90° one way and 30° the other, twist around because it snapped 7 of the rays. Guess what? Somehow, don't know how, it freaking healed. It healed itself up in about a week. Terrifying stuff.

Thanks for the reply. Not it's not getting worse, no it doesn't bend both ways. To best describe, the fish can't extend the fin like a wing, as in horizontal. It mainly drops ninth degrees to its side when the other side is horizontal, especially when it tries to swim up or down, or when swimming straight the fin would be kept close to its body, not flared open like normal.

The pic I taken, the pectoral fin side that's on display is the damage one. On both pic

Ah, okay I see now
Gypsy13 is the best goldfish person, and great at diagnostics, but happens to be blind. The fin is drooped down, seems like it may be at a slight angle, but it could just be because the fish seems to be a actively swimming.
This is a bit out of my expertise, I haven't actually seen an injury like this. If it's not slowing your fish down and doesn't seem to be getting worse, it's likely not much to worry about. Keep an eye on it, if any parts begin to turn red or gray, then it becomes a problem. Until then, it's up to the fish, and they are surprisingly capable!

If it literally is broken, snapped, like a twig, it will heal, but the fracture will likely fuse improperly. My goldfish broke the first dorsal ray and it healed bent. Aesthetically it might not look great, but shouldn't affect the fish negatively, overall. Here's a pic of its dorsal to see what I mean. Instead of being straight up, it's bent back. Yes, it's completely healed and fused together in the pic.

Hello and welcome to fishlore!
It’s been two weeks so watching is all you can do now. Even at the time of the injury you’re limited in your treatment choices. It seems to be healing without infection. That’s a good thing. They can get by just fine with a deformed fin. As long as it’s eating and swimming it will continue to heal. Keep on top of your water conditions. Continue to watch for any sign of infection. Other than that kick back and enjoy your finbabies.
