I have a young 3 spot Gourami in my 10 gal QT tank. I have a cycled sponge filter and a top fin 40 on it. I noticed he glass surfs a lot, up, down, and in circles.
I turned the top fin on the lowest setting and I turned the air pump down a little. I also hung some of his fake plants from the lid for some top cover all trying to make him more comfortable.
Any other ideas?
Is this just normal gourami behave when stressed (being in a new tank)?

I feel like this happens to gouramis a lot... My experience has been they get like that in new tanks... especially ones without lots of places to explore/hide. Hopefully they'll settle down soon

Personally I find a little difficult to fix this problem, but just provide cover and play with the lighting a little bit in order to correct the reflective-ness of the glass

It give me aniexty to watch him. Just over and over in the same spot. I'll try to do other things to calm him. Maybe 3 sides of tank background to help hide his reflection.

Do gourami tend to take longer to calm down and get comfy in a tank?
Could it be that the tank is small (10gal) or too much filter flow?
The hob is on the lowest setting and I turned the sponge filter down a bit. The sponge filter is what came from the cycled tank so do I need the hob?

A three spots needs a least a 30G tank. A 10G isn't even big enough for a dwarf !

Well yea it's QT and he was a juvenile.
My main tank is 37 gal.
I returned the blue for a DG.
So far it's acting much better.
