Hi, I have two Blue Acara that I have been treating for what I thought was Ich using heat method. My tank has been between 86 to 88° F for at least 2 weeks now. They still have specks on them and then today I noticed a white cottony growth on one of them. My other fish are not affected. Not sure what to do. Pictures are attached. Help!

    55 gallon tank
    1 Air Stone
    Ammonia at zero
    Nitrite is zero
    Nitrate 5 ppm

Likely a secondary infection caused by the ich. If your using the heat method to treat the ich you also need to do water changes as well.

You probably should do daily water changes while your doing the heat method that will take some of the ich from the water and substrate out.

If you want faster results I would get medication to treat the ich...once the ich is gone you can tackle the bacteria/fungus problem by doing water changes. Medication for ich does require daily water changes as well.

Could be a resistant strain of Ich, or (unlikely) Oodinium. Forma-Green is worth a try.
