    Hi Folks,

I have a yellow male betta and a yellow twin bar platy. First noticed red spots on the abdomen of the platy. Then it's tale fins started turning red. The same thing is happened to the yellow betta. Have read that it could be ammonia poisoning.

Last weekend I went to Petco and bought a pack of plant bulbs to plant in the substrate. There were 4 dried bulbs in the pack. They looked like small chunks of wood with hair on them. None have sprouted. Could the bulbs be the cause of a possible ammonia spike?

Those bulbs were pond or aquarium water lilies that will not cause ammonia spike.. what is your water parameters today, Is your tank cycle
