Blood Parrot Strange Behavior

Hello! I am a new 55 gallon aquarium owner. I have one blood parrot cichlid but I rarely see him because he hides in the very top of my castle all day long. If he comes out, the moment he sees me, he will take off running back into the castle. Recently I have noticed that he will come out and start doing this weird thing where he is like puffing up his cheeks and blowing out hard at the glass, while shaking his body. (I have a video of it but I don’t think I can post it on this forum.) When he does this, he’ll do it for like 10 minutes straight. Any ideas what is going on with him?

Hi! It doesn’t seem to be a big problem it just seems like he’s attacking his reflection. He could be getting ready for breeding so he’s extra territorial right now and thinks he sees another male but it’s just him. Has he still been eating normally?

He eats when he comes out. None of my fish really flock to the food once I put it in though. As far as breeding, he is the only Blood Parrot, but I do have a convict cichlid who is the only convict in the tank that laid eggs yesterday morning or the night before. No clue if there are actually babies inside. Who the father is still a mystery to me, she won’t let anyone around the eggs at all...maybe it was the blood parrot if this is breeding behavior??? I have no clue what’s going on with them I came here to try and get some help from those of you who are experienced.

If the eggs are fertilized then chances are it is the blood parrot. There is a hybrid of a convict and a blood parrot called a polar blue blood parrot. If they are fertile then you might have some of those
