Blood Parrot Cichlid Mouth

Hi
I have heard that blood parrots cannot close their mouths all the way, however, I saw some juveniles at my LFS and their mouths are closed (smiley ). Also there is a restaurant near my house that keeps BPs that are fairly big (5-6 inch) and their mouths are also closed. Can someone tell my if adult BPs can close their mouths? If not, are their any similar cichlids that can?
thx

Depends on the shape of the mouth.
I have one blood parrot with the mouth in this shape, which doesn't seem to be able to close its mouth:

and one with the mouth in this shape (a "smiley face", and seems to be able to close its mouth):

Is there any way to tell if it’s mouth will close when it grows up because I’m buying mine as juveniles

Not really, but being able to close it or not does not really affect it any way. Most can be able to almost close it anyways (just leaving a little space in the "centre" of the mouth.

Ya... I think the “smily face” BPs are really cute but I don’t want them to look like they are eating warheads
