update:
He's still kicking this morning. He didn't touch the food I gave him sadly. The bulge seems to have migrated. I dosed with the anti-bacterial and salt yesterday. I'll continue the anti-bacterial today. The new lowlight tetra is schooling.

sorry to say but this fish is dieing and is likely a victim of Dwarf Gourami Disease.
I'd put it out of its missery and not start using meds in the main tank .

Yes I agree you would save the other fish too by putting him out of his misery

update: King was euthanized with clove oil last night. He was buried with algae wafers, his favorite.

Thats a rough pill to swallow and one of the worst parts of the hobby. We never have to like it, but do have to accept it. Sorry to hear about your boy.

This illness is normal in dwarf gouramis and is one of two reasons I don’t keep them anymore, the other being that they can be bullies. Rest in peace to King.

I have had this happen to my dwarf gourami too and I was so sad so now I no longer get them because they almost always have some disease when they come home from the store.
Balloon mollies are the same way.
