Blackout Paint For A Glow Tank

My wife wants me to create a glow tank. An idea that I had (most likely not original) was to paint three of the 4 sides black to control the black light. What kind of paint would be good to use on glass and be able to peal off easily if she wants something different?

I haven't done it personally, but if you're using glass, acrylic paint is supposed to work really well and come off easy with a scraper or something.

Most Fish stores sale rolls of vinyl Aquarium backing that you can tape on. It comes in black and is easy to remove afterwards if it doesn't work out.

Haha, I answered this same question a few days ago. Regular old acrylic craft paint works fine. You'll need a couple of coats. I recommend the gloss kind, it covers nicely. When you're tired of it, spritz with water and scrape/peel with a razor blade.

Buy a container of acrylic craft paint. You will likely need a lot so bit the big container I think they are 10 oz maybe then buy a 4 inch foam paint roller and paint it on in several coats. If you mess up lett it dry and use a flat razor blade to scrape it off it will come off easily and be carefull to not scratch the glass. Good luck.

I've always heard plasti-dip, since it coats so thick that it doesn't let light through. I got a used tank with it and it also comes off extremely easily if you ever change your mind. Bought one with paint and it was horrible to remove!

Black acrylic paint works just fine, i'd do black substrate with some "glo" rocks for a highlight, anything neon or highlighter colored will "glow" under black light. You will need to balance the time the black light is on as fish should not be under it as the only light source.

The problem with plastI dip is its so expensive in comparison to acrylic paint if you’re really concerned about ease of removal try a small square with the paint let ot dry and try to scrape it off
