Black Skirt And Serpae Tetras

HI everyone

So let me tell you the situation

I have 2 black skirt tetras for 2 years
And 2 red serpae tetras for 1 year ( one of them has a genetic rash)

They were all in my community tank
From time to some of my fish got fin nipped
( guppies, mollys, and serpae tatras)
So last weekend I tried to put black skirts out and in my smaller tank with neon tetras

So the question is
As they should be at least 5 , and my tank stacking is almost full
And black skirt and serpae didn’t seem to school and got nipped

Do you suggest to add 3 more to black tetras?
How important it is for them
(The 2 I bave usually don’t go together much and sit far from each other)

And what do you suggest for red serpae?

Thanks

Imo... to the black skirts they don't hang out because they are not in a school.
That alone can cause them to become solitary and possibly more defensive/ aggressive.

Fish that group together ime do better in higher numbers such as 12.

I have no experience with serpae tetras but...
I hear nipping is a trait they carry.

Up the school best you can and keep up on wa after changes is the safest way to go ime.
Hope this helps you.
Good luck

I had a group of 8 white skirts (same fish just different color) and they never schooled together. They set up several small territories that they somewhat defended against each other.

How big is the tank you’re putting them in?

How big is the tank you’re putting them in?

Ive separate them from guppies in a 10 g along with mI 10 neon tetras
Please help me if is there a benefit or bad to add 3 more to them for their health and happiness as the tank is not that big

I originally wanted to add a betta but now I decided for their best to put blacks in it

So question remains:

10g
10 neon tetras
5 jullI cory
2 black skirt tetras

How many more or should i?

Other tank
20 long

10 guppies
4 albino corydoras
3 mollys
2 serpae
5 zebra danios

If someday I want to add
In your opinion
Add to zebras?
Tetras?
Guppies?

Thanks

That's a lot for a 10 gal. I suggest that you upgrade the tank if possible.
Your fish your tank.

Unfortunately that’s not possible I had to bring 10 back as I have no room to upgrade my 20 to a larger one
And that doesn’t wortb it to chage from 20 to 30 with this much of work it needs to switch

With the fish you already have in the tank, I wouldn’t add anymore. The 10 Gallon seems fully stocked

I understand.
At this point I personally don't recommend adding anything at this point.

It just a point of overcrowding the given space..
Good luck with what you decide to do.
