Black Sand... Is It Sand

Hi i just purchased some black aquarium sand and its arrived and looks more like really fine black gravel type stuff, is this just what the black aquarium sands are like or is this not sand? I have corydoras and it dosnt look as comfy as sand for them

Technically, that just depends on the actual grain size. Anything between 1/16 mm and 2mm is sand - over 2mm is gravel. Smaller is silt (which is what you wash out to stop your tank becoming cloudy). Does it state grain size on the packaging?? What brand is it?? It's very likely that someone else has used the same brand and can offer proper advice.

Corydoras should do fine with that. It looks more fine than the black diamond I am using and they are fine in mine.
