Hi everyone
I'm a long time reader first time poster so firstly thanks for all the knowledge.

Having had a 12 gallon tank for five years and kept fish through my childhood I recently got a 65 gallon setup. I cycled it for a month having added the requisite quick start amount, then after testing water went to my LFS 3 days ago and got 6 black neons. Matched the LFS temperature and added them after 1.5hr acclimatisation/ adding my aquarium water slowly etc. They all seemed great but this morning noticed one of them has this white, almost fluorescent patch on one eye, and seems a bit lethargic.

Normal side:

Looks like she might just be blind in one eye. Not exactly something you would notice right away.
I don't think it's a disease but definitely keep an eye on it if she gets worse.

Hi

I wouldnt be sure that the tank is cycled if your reading 1ppm NO2?

A reading for NH3 would be good too. with only 6 small tetras in a big tank its not going to be hard to do a fish in cycle though. Just water changes more frequently to keep NH3 and NO2 as close to 0 as possible. You have NO3 so it should be close to cycled unless your tap water has any of the above?

Think I need more informative test strips. Based on my past experience I'd assumed a month plus the quick start bacteria from the bottle combined with those readings was ok. Will get better test kit and double check

Just in case you were interested- you were exactly right. The fish has been fine for the last month as has the aquarium in general. Thanks for your advice.
