Last night everyone in my tank was fine, this morning when I woke up to feed them I noticed whitish bumps on my black Molly (Vader). They are just tiny spots, slightly raised, and in some areas her black scales look outlined in white/grey. Her eyes are fine, her fins and tail have no spots, she's eating as much as usual, very active, normal poo, still hanging out with my balloon Molly(stripper) who is still trying to mate with her. Vader is not flashing, or acting out of character in any way.
stripper, the two guppies and common pleco(please don't start on him getting to big for my tank, I am aware and will remedy that before he gets to big) all appear fine, no spots or bumps that I can tell. And everyone is acting normal.
Vader may be slightly more stressed then the others, as Stripper chases her, trying to mate ALL THE TIME(at least 6 times a day I see him trying) but she doesn't try to stay away from him, intact if he's to far away from her she swims to him. The guppies are fully gay, have ZERO interest in vader, and the pleco keeps to himself.
I'm not sure how to tell if it is ich or velvet, or something else entirely. In case of ich I'm raising the temp closer to 86 and adding more air, as a thread on here suggested, and if possible I want to avoid medication as that's how diseases and such become resistant to treatment.
No new fish have been added, the only change in my tank recently is a new better HOB filter. My ammonia/nitrate/nitrites are all fine, no drastic changes to the water or anything, so I'm not sure how a disease would be introduced.
Any other suggestions? Anyone know a way to tell for sure what is causing it?
