10 Gallon Tank Black Beard Algae?

Hi fish friends! I noticed this little black poof ball in my fish tank and I have no idea what I could be. I did a quick google search and black beard algae is coming up. Can somebody clarify?

Is it perhaps a chunk of food that is fungusing? BBA is usually not in a ball like that. Can you get a better pic maybe?

I got it out of the water. It’s mega yucky looking whatever it is

It’s definitely slimy of sorts. Almost like a goop substance. I was thinking at first it might’ve just been some bacteria in a ball I added and maybe that’s what it looks like then all of its gone? But now I have no idea, but I’ve gotten it out whatever it is. But curiosity makes me question what is it?

That’s what I was thinking, I’m not for sure though. I have some in my other tank and they’re still clear and not like that black goop. I’ll keep and eye out though
