200ppm?!?! Do very large water changes back to back until you get it below 20ppm.
Then try to identify the reason.
What size tank do you have?
What filter?
What is it stocked with?
What are your tap water parameters?
How often and what percentage do you do water changes? Filter maintenance?

it's a 20 gallon tank I've been doing water changes every day for the past three days I have a marine land 350 or 500 5goldfishYeah I know my tank is way over stocked my ph 7.8 total kh 180ppm Gh 75ppm my nitrite is between 1.0-3.0 and nitrate is between 160-200

I do filter maintenance once every two weeks and I have a one gallon jug I use to take the water out and put in I did like About a 9 gallon water change last night

So for my fry can I use a new sponge to put over the filter grate

I definitely want one!!
Do you keep bn plecos with your angelfish?
I have been trying to get all my temp incompatible issues straightened out and found that angelfish may need a little warmer than bn plecos.
How many bn plecos would you put in a 120g?
Would you keep one in a 26g? Or maybe a 30L?
I am committed to plan out carefully and new additions, lol.

So as not to highjack this thread maybe start a new one. I think you already know the answer to your problem though. ONE goldfish is too many for a 20g, much less 5. I think the dollar per gallon sale at petco is going on right now.

Yes I do keep mine with angels. My adult plecos are with adult angels with temp of 78. My younger angels are kept at 80-82. So I don't keep plecos in those tanks. So ya....78 is towards the top of their range. Which I realize is frowned upon.

My baby plecos have a temp of 80.

I'd keep one in a 26 or 30 gallon. Just one ....with lots of water changes

A 120....gosh I don't even know! You could do a few in there for sure! Lol It depends on the rest of the stock I guess!

Yeah, it is teetering on the edge of their range.

I have two females in the 120 because the 26g was getting too dirty with a pleco and angelfish. There are also 8 loaches and 8 albino cories so I obviously like my bottom dwellers, lol. One more pleco should be ok with a 60" x 19" footprint. I got the long because I tend to gravitate to bottom dwellers.
Also in the 120 - 2 ctenopoma, 2 kribensis, black red tail shark.

I am about to rearrange and have cooler temp fish in a 30L so I will explore that option as well.

I have found that wanting a different fish is when I wind up getting another tank so I am trying to avoid that, lol, and make sure it will fit and be healthy in one of my current tanks.
Although, I did see that 75 gallon is included in the $1 per gallon sale here this time. Such a temptation!! If I only had a spot it would fit.

I am actually looking at houses. Funny thing is most people downgrade when the kids move out. I am looking at bigger houses because I have to have room for the fish tanks, lol.

You also need to test the water your using to do the water change. My tap water is 30-40ppm, so I use RO water. Might consider a new thread so this isn't hijacked.

I haven't posted an update on these guys in over a week! So much going on with the angels and my tank rehab....

Also because I there really isn't anything to "write home about". LOL They are looking more and more beautiful every day and growing very well. I will need to get them moved very soon. Right now, my bare-bottom 40 breeder I would like to use for them, has all of my koi angel babies in it. But the angel babies will be moving to a 46 bowfront that is currently housing some older baby angels that will be going to the LFS. So once that happens, these guys will do the rest of their growing out in the 40. I'm looking forward to getting them into the bare-bottom tank. They are way too messy for any kind of substrate!! lol (that many of them anyway!!)

This evening I used the water bottle trick to capture approximately half of the pleco babies and move them into a 20-gallon. Just buying a little more time until I can get them all into the 40.

It worked very smoothly. I just put a couple of algae wafers in the water bottle and within about 5 minutes at least half of them were already in the bottle so I pulled it out and voila!!!

I am opting out this time around. I do not have the ability to take home ANY more fish. So it would just be torture! LOL And my pleco babies are nowhere near large enough to be sold. So I've got nothing to sell either. I am very curious about it. But I just don't have the ability to spend my entire Saturday down there. Maybe I'll go to the one in the spring. It's too bad it doesn't take place at the location they have their monthly meetings. Because that place is just a mile from my house! LOL

Thank you so much guys!!! I'm really excited about them

At the age they are now a couple 20 gallon tanks is not sufficient for growing them out any further. So it's time to start spreading them out around the house! Lol

I was hoping to start trying to sell them around two to three months old. They are approximately 2 months old and still too small to sell in my opinion.

But yeah, the longfin ones are just absolutely stunning I'm not trying to brag or anything!! Haha I'm just really excited about them!!

Are you saying they were able to intentionally make that happen? Cuz I would have no idea how to intervene in that way!!

If you are ever interested in breeding them again let us know. I'm hoping to have a community tank by end of year and I want a Pleco in it. Regular or long finned. Albino or lemon Pleco. I'm building my stocking around the Pleco.
