Bio Cube 32 How To Muffle Sound Of Pump?

So I replaced the stock one with this:

but it still vibrates. I heard stuffing the pump with foam helps? Thoughts? what kind of foam is safe?

Thanks!

Older pumps do this but if its brand new I don't see why it should be making these noises have you cleaned it throughly? Maybe a piece of debris is stuck in it

Yeah, I did all that. I mean, it's not super noisey, it's just a hum. But I'm very sensitive to sounds. I could just be nit-picking

Is the biocube supposed to be dead silent? I mean, it's quiet but it's in our bedroom and without the fan on there is a slight noticeable hum. But that may drive me crazy

Wellll... if you're really bothered by the noise, you could look into yet another different pump. Hrmmm, we pay for our idiosyncrasies sometimes though, don't we?

So, if you're up for it, look into Sicce pumps. I've never had one, but they are considered to be of top quality, so have a very good reputation, and a selling point is that they are supposed to be dead quiet.

Edit: I'm no expert, but it seems like stuffing foam in or around a pump is a seriously bad idea. At the least, it would reduce your flow, and at worst, it could break a pump... which could happen when you're away from home... which could lead to other things happening... like a tank crash due to no flow for a significant time.

Definitely, don't stuff it with foam. All pumps produce some kind of noise. Some are better than others. The problem with all in one kits is that sometimes there is no good way of simply replacing something. They aren't the greatest for filtration but the Tetra whisper series is pretty quiet as are the Aqueon Quietflow.

Thanks for the response, I think it's just me being overly sensitive to the sound. In my 75 gallon, you cannot hear anything as the canister is the cabinet and all that. I'm going to try to get used to it.
