Bio balls

I was wondering if I took a bunch of bio balls to start a 33 Gal Saltwater tank how many would I need to take and should I put them just floating in the tank or place them in the filter??? any help or suggestions?!?!¡¿¡¿

I have never seen bio balls placed directly in the tank. I don't think it would hurt anything, but most folks have them in their filter. I have them in my XP2 filter for my freshwater tank.

ok yeah I don't think it would hurt either but was just trying to see if it would be best to have them in hte filter or in the tank lol, as I haven't done Saltwater befor but I can get tons of Bio Balls to give me the jump start so I don't have to wait forever for my balance ;D
