    Not 100% sure of the time but as long as they stay wet the bb should survive for quite a while

    As long as they're wet you can have thriving bacteria colonies. If it dries, most will die, but some will encyst themselves, going into a dormant state where they can survive for some time. When they find the moisture returns, they revert to their normal life cycle, and if conditions are good, multiply rapidly.

    Not long. Just grab some tank water and put the media into it to keep it alive.
