Big Surprise.......

We picked up a few Dalmatian molly's a couple weeks back, 1 male and 2 females. We also assumed one of the females was a little overweight....NOT.

We now have 11 fry in a breeder net and have little clue on how to proceed with taking care of them. They are in a 30 gallon tank with the 3 adult molly's and a dozen neon tetra's.

Suggestions appreciated....

to feed you can buy, hikarI first bites, or crush up the adults food to powder.

do you have plans for them once they are older?

No problem with crushing some food up, thanks. Not really, Should I expect them all to survive? I would like to keep them but do not believe my tank will support all of them comfortably?

quite a few should survive. mollies can get quite big can't they? you could sell or give them away. lfs will take them. or you can feed the babies to the adults. you will get more babies after these for sure.

Yah our local LFS will take them and give me some credit, win-win.

Final count is 13 and we believe 1 or 2 were likely eaten before we could get to them. Does 15-ish seem like a lot for this type of fish? I dunno were they all could possibly fit? Anyway they are all doing well, thanks again.

15 is not very many. I don't think though. guppies can have 30 or 50.

maybe these guys don't have as many. beats me. the more batches the more babies they will have.

Number of fry dropped depends on variety of factors.
Age, size, and conditioning of the fish are just a few.
