Today I noticed that one of my cherry shrimp has a big black spot on its side. The spot looks external, like something on its skin. The shrimp seems to be acting normally and is currently eating.

I'm new to shrimp, but I have ~10 of them in a 75 gal low tech tank with 10 amano shrimp and 20 ember tetras. Per the api master kit, ammonia is 0, nitrites are 0, and nitrates are 10, pH is 8.0, gh is 20 drops and kh is 16 drops.. Which is not ideal, I know.

Does anyone know what this could be? 6bf1698e2ff0fcef0e533783014a3014.jpg9a1e177aea043d8c6874a3fd3d7ed035.jpg

I have no idea, but if you can somehow keep an eye out for this one is such a large tank, take note of the next time it molts and see if it comes off with the exoskeleton.

    Yes.
