Bettas at Doc's Petland

I went into a local store that I haven't been in before. The tanks did seem clean and I didn't see ANY dead fish in the tanks. They had listed what was in the tanks and how much they are... but nothing else. (size.. etc.) Also, I noticed they keep their bettas in tanks in these boxes (see down below)... they also kept them in vases. I was appalled at the little boxes for the bettas... but I started thinking how they are better than the cups. They get clean, flowing water... but the box is like 3" long, 1.5" wide, and 4" tall. I believe they could barely turn around if they wanted to.. And they line them up so there is like 8 hung all the way across the tank...

So! Betta Community? What do you think about this?

Looks better to me, plus the tanks seem to be about the same size (maybe even a little bigger) than the betta cups. Then again, it can be hard to tell from pics.

I think they are so much better then the little cups you usually see them in. Only because, they, like you said, get clean moving water, and also get heated water compared to the room temp water in the cup. The next best thing besides a whole tank to themselves in a caring persons home, is in a tank with other fish and having a bunch of room to swim around. If I could improve on one thing about those little containers it would be to make them big enough for the betta to be able to turn without getting stuck.

They are called Betta Barracks and I like them better than the cups. Those look more spacious than the cups. The Bettas get clean warm water so they have to be healthier. Too bad they didn't make it a law that all pet stores MUST use these rather than the cups.

i've seen them online but never in use. It's not a great thing, but i'd say it definitely beats the tiny cups. at least that shop is taking a step in the right direction.

Yeah, too bad they don't get a whole tank to swim in, but at least they get clean water. That is a very beautiful red Betta too...bet he'd look even better in a bigger tank though.

But what I have seen in some stores is they have a row of those and then a free betta to swim the tank and flare up at every betta in those as if he's saying 'Haha, you're in there while I'm out here'.

Yeah those look so much better then those cups. Bettas look so much healthier too. Atleast they can spread their fins and tails out and turn in them. Natalie

It's funny, I didn't even realize how pretty the one I took a picture of was! I just snapped a picture for the boxes. And as I remember... almost all of them were red..
