i have a 55 gallon tank full of tropical fish such as guppies and mollies. can i include my single male betta in with the other tropicals or no. I'm not sure whether he would try to fight with some of the flashy fancy tail guppies or not.

Most bettas do not make good community fish. Either the betta or other fish can get nippy or stressed. There's a good chance some one would get hurt or killed.

If you could fill in your aquarium information it would be very helpful.
It's found on the blue bar at the top left of the page under My Settings.

Welcome to Fishlore

I would definitely be wary of putting him in a tank with Mollies. They are quite inquisitive and may harass him too much. Also a betta will turn on anything that looks similar to another male betta. The male guppy tails may trigger aggression.

Betta's seem to do much much better alone in a take. Most people here have them in 5 gallon or 10 gallon tanks, because of the fighting.
