Betta zit

One of my bettas has a growth on his chin. It's a little to the left side of his mouth and is a little underneath the mouth as well. It looks something like a blister you would find on your skin, with a sac full of clearish stuff. Some kind of infection, I guess...but I couldn't find its description in my Maracyn pamphlet. His eyes and lips are normal size, so I don't think he has popeye or cottonmouth. The betta is active and eating. He shares a tank (and routinely flares with) another betta, who is fine. Should I just treat normally with Maracyn II?

How long has it been there? and is it getting bigger? Do a good water change and then see( I know thats my first response to everything ;) ). Have never used maracyn or Maracyn II on a betta. Does the package insert say its ok? If it does go ahead.

I'm not positive but it could be an ulser. Hope that helps ;)

Are these males or females that you're keeping together?

The growth has been there a while. At first I thought it was a little thing unique to this one fish. It started out as just a small bump of the skin, but it's increased significantly over the past month or so.

The Maracyn instructions just tell you what to do if your freshwater fish has this or that symptom, geez, I hope it's okay for use with a betta.

I personally would do extra water changes and if it continues to get bigger then medicate. just a suggestion of course.

My betta has one too! I just noticed it today :-[

Weird, huh Miss Mouse? The fish acts fine,it's just  like he's having a bad face day or something. I'll increase the water changes and see what happens, like Butterfly suggested
I forgot to answer Omorrokh: I've got two males in the same tank. Divider down the middle.

It is really wierd and like you say - its more like a zit thank a fungus! i have treated my betta with Interpet 9 whcih is for ulcers and dropsy. If you come across anything good give me a shout - good luck! :)

Azul had one too and it kept getting bigger then it would act like it was going away and then it would be back again. I had dosed him with Melafix but nothing he had helped. It was either supposed to be there or I just never did find anything to help it. But he was a sickly fish from the first so it is hard to tell.

Noel does not have anything like it and I just checked Marty (my new baby) and he doesn't either.

Sorry I can't be of more help.
