Betta With My Two Dwarf Gourami?

Can I have a Betta with my 2 dwarf gourami? I’m thinking that it would be a great addition to my tank. This is a 60 gallon tank with the 2 dwarf gourami and 2 fiddler crabs. Thanks.

Betta and dwarf gourami are very territorial fish, bettas and gourami should not be kept together. Two gourami?? You should only be keeping one rehome the one you like least

The bettas would most likely fight with the dwarf gourami, and the other way around. What are the sexes of the DGs?

If the dg's are female they could be OK. I got myself a honey gourami and he is very nice

I think I have a male blue powder dwarf gourami and a female dwarf gourami with an orange body and a blue dorsal fin, I can’t remember the name of it

Keep an eye on the male dwarf gourami because it could harass the female DG. Are you interested in any other fish other than a betta.

Guppies have long wavy fins that gourami will love to nip at and gourami will probably destroy your shrimp. Carindal tetras are fast and do well with Dwarf Gourami

What about cichlids?

There’s a lot of cichlids. Depends on what type you want. I’d stay away from most African cichlids since they are more aggressive.
If your tank is planted and has plenty of cover, dwarf cichlids could work. Bolivians, German golds or blues, most kinds of apistos.

You likely have two males if your description of the "female" look like a flame dwarf gourami. Two males will not get along for long and may kill each other. Labyrinth fish are not suggested to be together for territorial and habitat in the tank (aka they are surface dwellers that don't get along with others in the same area, so guppies might not work because many of those hang out at the surface).

I believe that it is just called a dwarf gourami.

What species?

DGs might do well with the guppies; it just depends on the DG. The dwarf gouramis might eat the shrimp.

The blue powder dwarf gourami hangs out at my floating Pennywort and my could be a flame dwarf gourami hangs out inside my barrel hideout so they don’t really meet each other unless for food and they don’t really mess with each other. Maybe I can add a few more hiding spots or something so they won’t see each other that much. What do you think?

They may be able to handle with more cover, but it likely will only be time before the two decide they have had enough.

Well they usually try to avoid each other really.
