Betta With Finrot? What Next?

Hello everyone!

My partners betta fish, Dusty, is currently going through some form of finrot. Months ago he started to get these small, pin **** sized red spots on his fins and eventually the edges of his fins were red. I went to my local fish store and they said that it was finrot, possibly due to poor water quality (at the time we were having trouble maintaining ammonia). After using Aquariums antI ulcer and finrot treatment he was perfectly fine two weeks later. However almost two months ago it came back and nothing is working. I have used the same treatment for probably four weeks. He was improving during the first two, no change during the third and then he got worse on the fourth. For the past two weeks I have added no medication to the tank and I have just left him in pristine water. Today there is no change. He is always hiding, he still eats, but his fins are disappearing. This fish is family and we do not want to loose him, but things are not looking great.

I have spoken to some people and they have suggested that maybe he has become immune to the meds because I have use them before, and if that is the case I do not know what to do. I live in the UK so if anyone recommends treatment then it will have to be something I can source locally.

I greatly appreciate any help!

I found clean water to be the best! I did %30 water changes daily for a month until his fins grew back. I also used some Indian Almond leafs to stop any infections.
Started growing back

So did your betta experience this type of finrot then? I am not normally with my partner until the weekend, and he is never home in the day so getting to do daily wc posses a challenge! I will have to try Indian almond leaves!

I had a yellow betta too named "Mars" who had fin rot like that with sharp slants/edges with red. He didnt make it but back then I was doing it all wrong. I found in order to grow fins, clean water is the best thing.

Ah okay thanks for the advice! I am meant to be transferring Dusty to another tank at my house so if he’s well enough to do so then that’s the plan. This tank is newly cycled so ya pristine!
