Hi, so I've never dealt with dropsy before, but my betta fish is very bloated. I read online that aquarium salts can cure it. So I added them to the tank. She doesn't have any raised scales. So I believe she must be in the early stages. Is there any other ways to cure it?
Check water parameters. Those can effect illness as well. Also. Even told to hold off on feedings to a few times a week. When you do feed you could try a skinless pea to see if it could be bloating as well. But water quality is most important thing
Can we see a picture? Most of the time bloating isn't dropsy, but constipation or overfeeding. Dropsy comes with other symptoms such as lethargy, not eating, loss of colour, clamped fins, etc. But to be sure it's dropsy you need raised scales. Here's a guide about dropsy to see if it lines up: https://nippyfish.net/2009/05/21/symptoms-of-dropsy-in-betta-fish/
Hey, if it's Dropsy I've successfully treated it before so hopefully I can help. You definitely need kanaplex, so if possible, get some of that asap. It's useful for a ton of things, so it's good to have on hand
