Betta With A Hole In His Head

My problem betta is back at it again!!! He always manages to get sick or injured some how. He was completely fine this morning, but after I came home from work, I discovered that he has a huge white hole in the center of his forehead. The crowntail that shares his divided 10 gal is fine. Is it an injury or some sort of fungus? I do switch him and the crowntail to different sides of the divider ever few months to give them something new to explore, and I just switched them yesterday. I'll post picture of his injury here; thank you!

If he was perfectly fine before then after a few hours that happened, it's most likely an injury. Look over everything in the tank that he could possibly wedge himself into. Bettas especially like to try to go through things smaller than themselves, so check for any holes or crevasses. Continue to keep his water clean and it should heal up.

I think it's an injury from trying to hide in some place smaller than he can fit. Be very careful with this because I had a betta several years ago who wedged himself under the medium-rock pebbles I used as substrate, and they crushed him. It was a terrible supersize that evening when I got back from school and found him half berried and - dead. But this is also up to the individual betta, because I've had several others in the same tank with the same rocks and there's been no issues with them.

Check all your decor for rough edges and watch to see your fish's behavior. They often like snug places to rest, and sometimes just wriggle into tight areas.

there is some illness that does that, I passed it in looking up a different problem... I can't remember what it's called but you might be able to Google it.
