Betta will only eat one food

I have a lovely Betta called Milo. When I boguet him around 2months ago I ask what they were feeding him and was told BugBites. So I bought bug bites and after a day or so he started eating those. Now I feed him around 3 bug bites 3 times a day and he comes to my fingers to eat.
I have read I should feed my fish à varied diet which I do but Milo won’t eat anything else but bug bites. I tried feeding him frozen blood worms using tweezers and putting the worms on his nose he won’t eat them. I tried Hikari Micro pellets, flakes and freezed dried tubifex worms, no go.
My question is do you think he will be ok eating only Bug Bites? Or do you have a suggestion of something else I should try?

Have you tried not feeding him for a day or two before offering novel food?

Variety is key with a betta. He will be ok living off of the bug bites but it is best to add more. Try live food. I haven't had a betta who will not go for that lol.

Not feeding him for a day is a great suggestion. I will try that starting now. Getting live food is difficult for me since it’s not sold in the small town where I shop, I would have to go to Montreal for that which we don’t do often but next time we do go I will make a point of getting some.

If you get a grindal worm culture, you could grow them yourself and wouldn't need to buy them anymore. It's a bit boring (but not difficult) growing them and I eventually gave up, but maybe you have more dedication :D.

Considering the way some bettas are with food, just be glad as well you have something he will eat.

Garlic juice might prompt him to try a new food. The fasting is also a great idea

I want to try to grow some live food for my fish, it all seems complicated from what I’ve read so far. And where does One find grindal worm culture?..

Yes he is eating, I just have to make sure he doesn’t eat too much!!! That fish sure loves his bug bites.

you mean press garlic to try to extract some juice and add it to the defrosted bloodworms?

you can either buy some garlic guard, or make your own to make your own. the method I use is taking some fresh diced garlic and adding it to some hot water, let the garlic sit three for 5 minutes before removing it adding the food then letting the food soak for about 2 minutes then just give it to the betta! you could also press the garlic but maybe water it down a bit so it is not as concentrated.

he will probable eat the bloodworms without any garlic juice, I would use it for other flakes or pellet brands you want him to eat. although you could soak the bloodworms in it I just don't think they would absorb it that good.

Have you tried frozen brine shrimp or daphnia? My betta goes nuts for any frozen food. Maybe try something other than bloodworms?

Thank you very much betta06 for the recipe I will try it on the flakes and shrimp pellets I have.

Stargirl next time I am going to town I am definitely buying some frozen brine shrimp to try on him.
