What are your nitrates?
Also it’s possible your kit is damaged/ inaccurate

My nitrates are < 5. I use an API Master Freshwater test kit which I think is accurate since it does measure higher levels in my bigger tank.

Hi,

I have a Betta in a 2.5 gallon Fluval. I have been doing weekly 25% water changes with water parameters always 0/0/
Thanks!
I guess I am kinda slow today but what is your question? If it were me I would be doing bigger water changes but then I am a firm believer in big water changes.

Sorry, I think I'm the one who's kinda slow today. The rest of my question seems to have been cut off. Question is since my nitrates are usually 5 with weekly 25% water changes, now that I introduced water wisteria, can I space out my water changes to every 2 weeks so the wisteria has more nitrates to utilize?

Gotcha Like I said, I believe water changes are the very best way to keep our water pets healthy. I could never recommend just doing them every other week 'specially in a tank this small. With just the one fish in there you might be able to get away with doing water changes every 2 weeks but when you do one I highly recommend you change out at least 75% of the water.

Instead of not doing water changes weekly to allow the nitrates to build have you considered adding ferts for your water wisteria. With a tank this small it wouldn't take much so it shouldn't be very expensive.

I feed my WW with Thrive. It raises the nitrate levels in my tanks. Most of my plants are doing well now that I give them what they need. The WW is growing like a weed. Once yours gets settled in I have a feeling you will have to trim it weekly. I have it in a 5 gallon tank and have to cut it back every few weeks.
