Betta vs guarding peacock gudgeon

So long story short my betta is in my 10 gallon after his tank cycle crashed and the issue is that’s my peacock gudgeon breeding tank so I was wondering when they lay eggs will the small male (still a juvenile I think) guard against an adult plakat betta male. The betta isn’t that interested in caves and could probably only get his head in there but still. Any suggestion?

Oh, the male gudgie will certainly try. They used to go after the plecos for getting too close to the cave even though the plecos were way bigger.

Not a super good idea, especially in such a small tank. I would seed a filter by running it for a few days in an established tank and get that beta out of there asp.
