6F509EC3-DB7E-4F9F-8A63-7895E8B42AC6.jpeg so I’ve had my betta for a couple months now and he had a very mild tear at his analfin probably a month ago along with some shredding on his dorsal fin. It didn’t seem to be fin rot but regardless I’ve upped my water changes to twice a week at around 25-50% each time and I’ve put Indian almond leaves in the tank. Today, my betta tore off his tail fin nearly clean off to his body and I’m starting to freak out. He’s shown no signs of healing or worsening on his already injured fins and I worry his Tail won’t grow back or that this will be too stressful for his body. He’s still very active and loves flaring and eats heartily and I give him a variety of foods including different kinds of pelleted foods, frozen thrower brine shrimp, daphnia, mysis, and blood worms. I love him so much; someone please help me heal my baby

Additionally he has one of those betta leaf hammocks I suspect to be the culprit because otherwise all his plants are silk or live.

I only feed my betta fish vegetables. I have no idea if it's diet related, but Klaus only eats frozen peas that I thaw and cut up into tiny pieces for him, sometimes corn, zucchini, cucumber, cantaloupe and his fins are very healthy.

What are your tank parameters? I don't think the betta leaf hammock would do anything but take it out if that's what you think it is.

Betta fish aren't vegetarian. She is feeding a good diet for bettas. They really hardly eat any vegetables/plants. They eat more carnivorous

Make sure to check your silk plants! Two silk plants that I thought were completely silk both had a huge plastic spike in the middle that tore my betta's fin almost right down to the scales. I've heard of some bettas being impaled on them even, I still feel horrible, but just make sure you look at them closely!

I'm still not super sure what the culprit is. I'm gonna give him more daphnia to promote healing and I need to take some water to my LFS to get it checked. Its hard since I'm on a college campus with no car so I'm a little stranded. He does seem to have shown a bit of regrowth so fingers crossed my handsome boy can swim normally once again!
