Betta Tail Nipping Incident

Does this look like tail biting or should I check for something hard in the tank? Peremeters are 0, 0, 10 so that shouldn't be an issue. I've never had a tail biting incident before.. For reference I added a picture of his tail a few days prior as well.

To me, yes.. if his upper fin is also depleting it could be fin rot, which could be a sign of bad water quality. Does he seem stressed lately?

How long have you had him? I would check the tank for anything sharp including rocks, wood and any other hardscape. Bettas can also damage their fins if they flare too much they are that delicate. To me the fins look more frayed/ripped rather than bitten. Tail biting usually looks like little semi-circles.

I agree with FoldedCheese - those look like rips and not nips!

IME, they can squeeze their little bodies into the smallest, tighest spots and cause damage to their fins as well. It's amazing some of the places that they get into.

I retested water after work. Everything looks in order. I'm betting it might be the dragon stone...

Nitrate seem a little high and it looks like you have some ammonia present too. I'd start by lowering those and doing more frequent or larger WCs. Bettas prefer low nitrates under 10 ppm. As for the tears it definitely could be the dragonstone it looks pretty jagged.
