Betta Sorority

Hey guys, I currently have 28 Betta Fish. Yes, that’s excessive. I have two 20 gallon longs divided 5 ways, one in a community tank, and then I have 17 baby bettas that I am currently keeping in smaller tanks until I am able to sex them(meaning another 20 long divided, or two, and some ten or 5 gallons). Anyway, I was hoping to eventually start a sorority with some females but was wondering how many I could put together in a 55 with two filters(a 50 gallon and 70 gallon), obviously given that there’s tons of hiding places using silk plants(I kill live ones), and other logs and such.

I would say thr golden number is 5 but you could probably get away with 20, as long as they get along okay.

I'm at 19 in a 75 gallon. I wouldn't go over 25 in a 55 with out any other fish. Are you planning to have other fish such as cories or a schooling fish with them? Personally I would just put the 17 babies together and watch closely for aggression. I have males and females together with no issues .

Babies have actually started flaring at each other hence why they’ve been separated. No other fish just bettas, I’m not too fond of community fish anymore.
