Betta Sorority - Possible tank mates?

I'm currently in the beginning stages of cycling a 20 gallon tank for what I intend to use as a female Betta sorority. I'm going to stock 5-7 females in there and see how it goes. My question, is there any tank mates I could add to the sorority? I've seen some people say they've successfully added a Molly, some platties, and some ADFs and mystery snails before. I do NOT want to overstock my tank though. Is there anyone I can keep in there with the girls? Recommendations please!

I wouldn't put any tank mates in with them other than some snails.

Also, I would not put 7 bettas in a 20g. 5 max I would say.

I've got 8 girls in with 6 cories and a delinquent male sword. Everything is OK unless you add a new lady and then the pecking order has to,get re-established. It has only gotten nasty on one occasion and she is now in the community 75 enjoying life.

That's interesting because in a separate thread every single person said you can stock 8-10 in a 20 gallon tank, but that they do better in odd numbers. Once I see the tank set up in its entirety (with all of the plants and hiding spaces) I will then decide whether I will add 5 or 7. My question was which fish are compatible with a female Betta sorority, not how many I should add.

Nice! How big is your tank though?

They are in a 37 (approx 36x18 x 14 high). IMO, bunk on the odd number thing. Sometimes I have had as many as 12 ladies in there; don't mention that to anyone. Some folks on here get kinda PC. Don't forget that bettas are labyrinth fish and can breath either under water of the air.

If you're new to fishkeeping less would be more imho

But as to your question, I would think a shoal of cories that like warmer temps like sterbai's.

Thoroughly agree; for beginners start with smaller numbers. You can increase as you get better.
