Betta sorority in a 37 gallon?

I have a cycled 37 gallon tank that at the moment has 4 Cory catfish and 4 cherry barbs in it with some live plants and drift wood. I wanna start a betta sorority but don’t know how many bettas to start with or if a betta sorority would even be right for my tank. When I was doing research on the topic there was a lot of different info and what 1 person says is right another says is wrong. Would a betta sorority be right for my tank?

I wouldn’t do it unless you can rehome the other fish. If you can move or rehome the other fish then a sorority could work well, and I think starting with 7 female bettas would be good.

I am not the biggest fan of betta sororities, they don't work like 9/10 even if there are lots of hiding places and distractions. Usually, at very least they are pretty stressed in that type of environment. I'm not saying it never works(I've done it) but it's hard on you and the fish

Can I add just one betta in there with the fish that are already in the tank?

If I do that what would you recommend for other types of fish?

You have lots of options. I would increase each of your schools by maybe double. And then you still have lots of options and most of it comes down to personal taste. Any fish you are eyeing up atm?
