Betta Scales Falling Off?

Hello I have a 5 g tank with one betta in it and I’ve had this tank for over a year now. I went away for the weekend and came back noticing that his scales have a spot where it looks white. At first I thought it was fungus bc I recently added fish to my 20 gallon long that needed up with fungus, but after taking a closer look it’s clearly just like his scales lost color in that one spot. And after even more thought I haven’t cross contaminated with anything. Any ideas? Water parameters Nitrate is 5 ppm
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Ph is 7.5 or 8

Unless he’s acting unhealthy or stressed, it sounds like he just got too rowdy while exploring his tank and went somewhere he shouldn’t have. This happens to my bettas quite frequently- they wedge themselves in a nook between driftwood and sand that is too small for them to properly fit and end up loosing a few scales while getting out.

When it first happens they may be a bit stunned, but after awhile they’ll bounce back to there usual selves and the injury will heal in a week or 2

My Betta gets these on occasion as well. I also thought it was from him getting injured from something in his tank. It goes away fairly quickly...in about a week I would guess? I think I may have to take out his ship and sand down some spots a bit more on the inside.

It’s actually quite normal for betta fins to get a bit of wear n tear. I wouldn’t worry too much, as long as your betta is able to get out of the ornament. You do not want your fish to become stuck

So it’s been about a month and I don’t think his scales have fallen off like I once thought, it just looks like they have simply lost their color. Any reason for this? He’s still blowing bubble nests and eating, acting very normal..just lost some color in one spot. I’m just worried for him and nervous that it means he’s is getting old and our days together are numbered

I wouldn’t say numbered- it’s common for the color of a bettas head in particular to darken to an almost black and for the body to become skinny. My bettas head became black, and he still lived for 2 years longer. It could just mean he is passing his prime, but doesn’t mean he is old

aquagirllover A photo would definitely help . About how old is your Betta? What type of Betta is he? How long have you had him? How often do you change the water? What’s in his tank with him(I.e: snail shrimp live plants or other fish)? What do you feed him? Is his normal colors bright and vibrant and bold or is his coloring faded and pale looking? How much color has he lost and where he lost it what color is he there?

I feed him omega one flakes and frozen brine shrimp I also feed dried blood worms can’t remember the brand name. I’ve had him over a year and he was full grown when I got him. Same tank as always same routine weekly 20% water changes sometimes 9 or 10 days . Water parameters are same as original post. He also has one tank mate he’s a little Nirite snail but I haven’t seen him in ages I think he borrowed
