Betta salt baths

Hey guys I got my betta from petvalu 4 days ago now and he is missing a large chunk of his tail and has virtually no appetite. On day 2 he tried one pellet and promptly spit it out and has shown no interest in pellets, on day 3 I got his to eat a little bit of freeze dried blood worms. He is in a gallon cube right now till I get my 5 gallon in a couple days. He mostly just lays on his leaf unless someone is walking past his tank. Would salt baths help him?

 

The best you can do is to do 50% water changes daily. He needs clean water and being in a 1 gallon tank is making that harder. Does he have a heater in there?

I have been doing at least 50% daily, he doesn't have a heater as the store doesn't carry any small enough and ordering one would be pointless as I would get it at the same time when I get my 5gal

In that case, just keep at it until the 5 gal comes. You could add some dried leaves or another source of tannins, it may help make him a little more comfortable.
